Get more hours from every charge and keep your battery healthy for years. These optimization tips cover both daily battery life and long-term battery health.
Daily Optimization — Display Settings
Lower brightness: Reduce screen brightness or enable Adaptive Brightness (Settings > Display).
Screen timeout: Set screen timeout to 30 seconds (Settings > Display > Screen Timeout).
Refresh rate: Switch to 60Hz for longer battery life (Settings > Display > Refresh Rate). 120Hz is smoother but uses more power.
Dark mode: Enable Dark Mode (Settings > Display > Dark Mode). On OLED displays, dark mode can save up to 40% battery compared to light mode.
Daily Optimization — Connectivity
Turn off unused radios: Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and Location when not in use.
Use Wi-Fi over mobile data: Wi-Fi consumes less battery than cellular data.
Airplane mode in poor signal areas: When cellular signal is weak, your phone increases transmit power dramatically. Enable Airplane Mode to save battery.
Battery Saver Mode
Activate Battery Saver at Settings > Battery > Battery Saver. This mode:
Limits background activity and sync.
Reduces visual effects and animations.
Lowers refresh rate to 60Hz.
Restricts location services to when apps are in use.
Long-Term Battery Health
Avoid temperature extremes: Do not expose your device to temperatures above 35°C or below 0°C. Heat is the number one enemy of lithium-ion batteries.
Charge between 20-80%: Keeping your battery between 20% and 80% reduces stress on the battery cells and extends lifespan.
Enable Optimized Charging: Go to Settings > Battery > Optimized Charging. This feature learns your charging routine and slows charging past 80% until you need your phone.
Avoid full discharges: Do not regularly let your battery drain to 0%. Plug in at 20% for best results.
Check Battery Health
Monitor your battery health at Settings > Battery > Battery Health. This shows your current maximum capacity compared to when the battery was new.
Important: If your battery drops below 80% capacity within the first 12 months, it is covered under warranty for free replacement. See Article 20 for battery replacement details.
