If your phone feels sluggish or unresponsive, there are several steps you can take to restore its performance. Start with the quick fixes and work your way through the list.

Quick Fixes

  • Restart your device. Press and hold the power button, then tap Restart. This clears temporary memory and resolves most minor issues.

  • Close unused apps. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold to open Recent Apps. Swipe away apps you are not using, or tap "Clear All."

  • Clear app cache. Go to Settings > Apps, select the problematic app, then tap Storage > Clear Cache.

Free Up Storage

  • Low storage (below 10% free) directly impacts performance. Check your storage at Settings > Storage.

  • Delete unused apps: Go to Settings > Apps, sort by size, and uninstall apps you no longer use.

  • Move photos and videos to cloud storage (Google Photos) and delete local copies.

  • Clear media from messaging apps — WhatsApp, Telegram, and similar apps accumulate large media files over time.

  • Empty the Downloads folder and Trash/Recycle Bin.

Manage Background Processes

  • Go to Settings > Battery > Background Usage to see which apps consume the most resources.

  • Restrict background activity for apps that do not need real-time updates.

  • Disable auto-sync for non-essential accounts (Settings > Accounts > Auto-sync).

Software Update

Outdated software can cause performance issues. Go to Settings > System > Software Update and install the latest version.

Warning: A factory reset erases all data on your device. Back up all important data to Google One or Cloud before proceeding. Go to Settings > System > Reset Options > Erase All Data.
